BONUS – Parenting advice

We work so hard to create a legacy. Some of us want the next generation to take it to the next level where others just don’t want to screw it all up.

The below tips are meant to print off (perhaps create flash cards) and actually implement the suggestions.

Teach your kind kids to write thank you notes:

It is never too early to get kids “writing” thank you notes! Even before they can write, kids can color, decorate, and maybe sign their name on thank you cards. Saying thank you is powerful and nothing makes a bigger impact than a handwritten thank you note.

  1. Build a “Thank You Note Box” with your kids. Let them fill the box with stickers, stamps, glitter pens, construction paper, and some store bought cards.
  2. Teach your kids to write thank you notes right away. Thank you notes should ideally be sent within 48 hours of receiving a gift or act of kindness, but it is never too late to say thank you!
  3. 3 lines in 3 minutes. “Thank you for the beautiful Belle dress! Belle is my favorite princess. I love wearing the dress when I dance.”
  • College pros (opportunity to think for yourself, network) – college is for professional if that is your path – we often don’t put emphasis on the apprenticeship model
  • How will you teach your kids Grit and build skillsets with minimal scarcity (being broke)
  • You kids are not idiots (they know you are wealthy – they see the yellow letters come in the mail)
  • Peer groups are impactful (classmates who parents who are not as wealthy buying more for their kids)
  • Teach gratitude – you can be rich or poor. We have a lot of passive investors that are very wealthy (5M+) but still operating in uncertainty and scarcity

Parenting is challenging, and we all want the best for our children without stressing them out.

Sports help children (and people in general) to have a healthy lifestyle early on. Not only that, sports teach them discipline, grit, confidence, persistence, and teamwork.

Linda Flanagan reveals how youth sports have become a significant business these days, discusses the money behind it, and, sadly, how it stresses children and families today.

Figuring out if you still need to go to college or if it’s still practical to send your kids to college? Here’s my answer.
